Snow Day!

Connor buried in the snowColorado gets a lot of snow. Most people know this.

Most people don't know that the Denver area isn't snow-bound very often. Instead of looking like the place where they film battery commercials, Denver usually looks warm and inviting after it snows. The sun shines here more than 300 days per year, so the snow doesn't usually stick around very long. On your right you can see Connor sitting in the snow on our front sidewalk.

Connor on the snowy TaurusThe winter of 2006/2007 will be remembered as the exception to the rule. Sure, we've had plenty of sun...but the sun has been falling behind. The Denver area has had 8 consecutive weeks with snowstorms. On your left you can see Connor sitting on top of our car. He climbed up there all by himself, which was quite a feat. Dad let him do it because, with almost three feet of snow, there was little danger of him falling and getting hurt.

Beginning with the Christmas blizzard, we've been plastered every weekend. We haven't seen the blacktop on our street since December 21st. Not that we're complaining, mind you. We've had plenty of sun to break up the snowstorms...but the sun's still working on breaking up the snow. We're really looking forward to our snowiest months of the year: March and April.
